چکیده

Introduction In cases of patients who have contraindications to transvenous pacing leads but still require pacing, surgically placed epicardial pacing leads are often used. If such a patient warranted implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), a subcutaneous ICD (S-ICD) system would be ideal from the standpoint of avoidance of transvenous leads, but devicedevice interaction with the epicardial pacemaker system is a concern. In this case report, we describe the interaction as well as the management of a patient who was previously implanted with a dual-chamber unipolar epicardial pacing system and subsequently required a subcutaneous defibrillator for secondary prevention of sudden cardiac death.

Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator in a patient with dextrocardia situs inversus

Background: Dextrocardia is a congenital anomaly, which may have coexistent coronary artery disease (CAD), arrhythmias and conventional indications for device therapy. However, the implantation of transvenous leads can be technically challenging and the approach needs to be tailored to the patient's individual anatomy. Case presentation: A 54-year-old male with dextrocardia situs inversus and i...

Pacemaker lead endocarditis with hiccups (Kalayci)

Background: Lead-related infections that might develop after pacemaker implantation associated with high mortality and morbidity rates are challenging to manage and pose high-cost. Patients with lead-related infections usually present with fever, chills and fatigue and the treatment can be challenging unless the implant system is extracted. Case presentation: A 66-year old male patient who und...

Is correction for metallic artefacts mandatory in cardiac SPECT/CT imaging in the presence of pacemaker and implantable cardioverter defibrillator leads?

Introduction: Metallic artifacts due to pacemaker/ implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) leads in CT images can produce artifactual uptake in cardiac SPECT/CT images. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of the metallic artifacts due to pacemaker and ICD leads on myocardial SPECT/CT imaging. Methods: The study included 9 patients wh...

The Subcutaneous Implantable Cardioverter- Defibrillator as Part of Dual Device Therapy in Complex Congenital Heart Disease

We report the case of a 44-year-old with unrepaired complex congenital heart disease (CHD), a pre-existing permanent pacemaker, and a subcutaneous implantable cardioverterdefibrillator (SICD) implanted for secondary prevention. Right parasternal electrode positioning and step-down defibrillation testing were integrated. Application of the SICD for device therapy in CHD patients remains quite li...
